Fact or Fad? " Less sugar please"
Source:http://evolutionvtg.blogspot.sg |
Most people often chide their friends when they ask for a low-sugar or sugar-free drink. Often, their joke is that you are vain and are conscious of your weight.
Sure, sugar causes weight gain as it is a simple carbohydrate that gets stored easily if not utilized.
But what is the truth behind Sugar? More specifically, glucose.
Glucose is made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It gets stored as a less soluble version in our bodies as glycogen and then.In plants, it is stored as starch.
Glucose is the basic unit of all sugars and from glucose, you get to build up different sugars such as maltose, fructose etc.
Glucose is not bad.It serves a purpose in our bodies.
But what makes Sugar so taboo in so many areas of health? Besides the obvious that it is stored as fat, it is also a robber.
In order to metabolize, one must use up various vitamins and minerals in order to process the sugar we consume into glucose. We consume sugar in many forms, thus, they require breaking down.
Source: wikipedia (Sorry guys but this is the least boring one) |
Sugar taken in excess will lead to a huge robbery of vitamins and minerals! You have officially used up your vitamins to process Sugar. I'm pretty sure if you have a high Sugar intake, you cannot possibly be consuming enough vitamins through proper food to be able to make up for that deficit.
Too bad our bodies don't have credit cards huh?

BMI vs BAI
http://www.exercisebiology.com |
Calculate your BMI and BAI here.
BAI: Body Adiposity Index.
BMI: Body Mass Index
I think, though both measurements give one slightly more insight to one's health, but it's still not accurate enough.
What do you think?

Fitness Cheat?
I've seen a couple of these "cheat sheets" in various magazines. They ARE helpful but it doesn't mean you just work on those areas and you'll be okay.
Focus on working out your entire body.
You'll definitely notice a difference and you don't even have to think about your "trouble areas". By the time people notice, you'd already be lovin' your hot bod.

What working out is all about.
Exercising is not a short term thing.
It's a lifestyle.
In fact, it is inbuilt into human beings to move around.
Most people PAY money for this short term goal called "losing weight"
Therefore, they find it punishing.
However, if you create a habit of exercising and eating well.
You won't even have to think about it.
It will be an incurable itch to NOT exercise or NOT to eat up your vegetables.
The same damn itch most people have to eat fried, processed food or laze around and cook up excuses.
Creating a habit is hard. Breaking a habit is even harder.
Choose your habits.
