How do I get started on becoming healthy.

Living a healthy lifestyle.

People often envy healthy people and say "oh it's because they are fit so it's easy for them to be fit."
Isn't it the same thing as "You're unhealthy, so it's just easier to be unhealthy?"
Becoming a healthy person who eats well and works out regularly is not something that happens overnight.
Nope, not even two nights.

It takes forever.

Don't sigh and groan and say "I might as well give up now since it's forever."

Well, there IS a distinct difference between being healthy and just losing weight.

You can lose weight by:
- Not eating
- Liposuction
- Stomach stapling
- Going to war and be a POW
- Join a famine

This will be your end result

mmmmmm bones.....

I don't think this is healthy and natural, but check it out! It's weight loss!

Thus, being healthy takes baby steps and it's your own personal journey for life. You cannot just be healthy for a month or two and then revert back to the junk food junkie. That isn't healthy, that's yo-yo dieting!

Tip #1: It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle.
Yes girl, you heard me. Start small. If you've been consuming instant noodles for all 3 meals, do this:
- Get instant oatmeal, sprinkle a sweetener (or honey, which is better) on top, stir and consume

Then:
Stock up on: fruit, frozen vegetables, protein of choice (I love eggs and tofu and chicken), brown and white rice.
1. Cook up a few cups of a mixture of brown and white rice. (This can serve you for a few meals over a few days.)
2. Marinate meat and leave in tupperware
3. When you need to eat a meal, just stir fry or microwave the meat and veg. add to rice. Add some pepper and soy sauce. DONE.

Tip #2: Get in some form of exercise, 3-4x a week.
Try this workout (using the 1 minute per set interval, you get a good workout in 12 minutes)
Try brisk walks.
Try 5 squats and 5 push ups to start or end your day.

Tip #3: Write down why you want to do this.
It could be for vanity, to fit into that dress/ skinny jeans, or for health issues.
Pin it UP and look at it when you need motivation to go on.

Tip #4: Write down or discuss with a friend, your achievements every week.
This will help you review your goals and motivate you to try harder.

  1. Yes motivation helps! But it will be a problem if someone's not motivated at all!

  2. @cherring: Yep. Thus, one does need that spark of motivation to actually take that first step. I cannot initiate that until it clicks in the person. And if one falls off the wagon, no one said they should get on the same one. Just choose another wagon! =)
